This mic is well adapted to studio vocals, voice-over, choir, orchestra, acoustic Instruments, guitar cabinets, bass cabinets, strings, piano and cymbals/overheads. Resulting from over a decade of active development, the CAD M179 is one of a new generation of CAD condenser microphones. Using the latest computer modeling tools has resulted in a microphone that features the best of old world and new world technology at a very affordable cost. The M179 has three user selectable pickup patterns: Omni which is spacious and articulate, Figure 8 which is rich and intimate and Cardioid which is tight and punchy. The M179 features a dual sided, externally biased capsule with a gold sputtered 1.1" diaphragm capsule, and has a high speed, low noise operational amplifier head amp, coupled with a new discrete high efficiency power supply circuit. This results in incredibly low noise, low distortion and fast transient response. The M179 will even work with 24-volt phantom supplies! The M179 also features a non-capacitive 10 dB pad switch and an 100 Hz high-pass filter. Swivel mount, MZM5 elastic shock mount and carrying case are included.
